AFTER prolonged torrential rain caused widespread flooding throughout St Helens yesterday (see the Star's live flood blog) there is a new amber weather warning of more downpours and high winds for the town today.
The Met Office predicts that there wlll be new outbreaks of rain continuing throughout the day, persistent and heavy in places. Winds may be relatively light at first, but will pick up through the afternoon and evening.
Temperatures willl struggle to reach 12°C, well below the seasonal average.
And for tonight more heavy rain is predicted but becoming drier later in the night, with a chance of showers. Staying windy. Minimum temperature 7 °C.
