Torrential rain and strong winds forecast for St Helens

MORE heavy rain and gale force winds are expected to lash St Helens over the next two days.

There is the potential for renewed flooding and motorists are warned to drive with care.

Forecasters at the Met Office have now  issued amber warnings for the North West for Monday and Tuesday.

The Met Office is predicting:

Today: A very wet and windy day, with heavy rain and strong winds, which could touch gale force at times. With these conditions persisting right the way through the day it will feel cool. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight: Remaining wet and windy right through the night, with further heavy downpours at times and winds continuing to reach gales force, especially over the hills. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Tuesday: Remaining very unsettled, with strong winds and persistent, at times heavy rain. Temperatures remaining well below average for the time of year. Maximum temperature 14 °C.
