Bridge work starts

WORK on a St Helens footbridge is due to start this week.
The bridge in New Street, close to St Nicholas’ Church, will need scaffolding installed.
It will be erected this week, and the project is expected to end around October 18.
During this period the footbridge will be closed to pedestrians.
Provision is being made to provide an operative at either side of the bridge to allow pedestrians to safely cross the road.
The council said every effort will be made to minimise noise and apologised for any inconvenience.
