Gran Ann Gildert is pedalling to raise the pounds in memory of ex-boss Angela Paul

A GRANDMOTHER is heading out on a five day cycling mission across India in memory of a colleague who died from breast cancer.

Ann Gildert, 59, will be pedalling to raise the pounds for the charities in memory of Angela Paul, her former boss at Ceva Logistics in Warrington, who died in 2010.

Ann, from Newton-le-Willows, is no stranger to fitness challenges. She has previously completed a trek to Peru as well as a bike ride from Paris to London. She told the Star: “I am really looking forward to it, but it will be a tough challenge. Support so far has been great, I want to raise as much money as possible.”

Training for the 360km trip has been hard for Ann, who has undertaken extra spinning classes and bike rides to ensure she is fully prepared for the intense five day cycle. ‘Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust’, ‘Ovarian Cancer Action’ and ‘Breast Cancer Care’ are the three charities which will benefit from the fundraising. Ann’s family have been supportive of the trip, in particular her three grandchildren Jack, Thomas and Harrison, who helped pick their grandmother’s JustGiving website name.
