Community service for benefit cheat
5:39pm Tuesday 18th September 2012 in News By St Helens Star newsdesk
A WOMAN who fraudulently claimed more than £15,000 in benefits has been sentenced to 150 hours community service.
Lisa Sturman, 35, from Ellison Drive, Newton-le-Willows pleaded guilty to five offences of benefit fraud.
She had failed to tell the Department for Work and Pensions and St Helens Council that her employed husband was living with her, resulting in a combined overpayment of £15,193.63.
To report benefit fraud call the dedicated hotline on 0800 953 0217 or email benefitfraud@sthelens.gov.uk.
