Female cyclist in critical condition following collision on East Lancs

A FEMALE cyclist has been seriously injured following a collision on the East Lancs earlier this morning.
Police were called at around 7.45am just past Haydock Island near Newton Lane in Golborne, following reports of a collision between a car and cyclist.
They found a 35-year-old woman had suffered several injuries, including a serious head injury.
She was taken to Salford Royal Hospital where she remains in critical condition Junction 23 of the M6 was closed for a short period, but has since reopened.
Constable Stephen Dunning from Greater Manchester Police said: “If anyone witnessed this morning’s incident on the A580 that has left a 35-year-old woman seriously ill in hospital, then please get in touch with us.
“We are carrying out an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding this collision.” Anyone with information is asked to call police at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741/4742.
