Jon Wilkin's delight at signing up Clare Balding for Langtree Park Question of Sport date.
8:00am Saturday 15th September 2012 in News
Clare Balding will host a Question of Sport at Langtree Park.
ONE of television’s stars of a glorious summer for British sport is coming to Langtree Park next week.
Clare Balding’s broadcasting and presenting skills at London 2012 – whether it be at the Games’ venues or in the studios – have earned her widespread admiration.
She was arguably the outstanding member of the BBC team which covered the Olympics and then anchored Channel 4’s coverage of the Paralympics.
It is no wonder that Jon Wilkin, who knows Clare through her work presenting rugby league on the BBC, is delighted to have her on board for his Question of Sport dinner on Wednesday, September 19.
The event – which will also includes Olympic bronze medal winning gymnast Beth Tweddle, ex-Everton footballer Peter Reid, and ex-Wigan rugby league player Brian Carney – will see two celebrity teams competing with tables of guests in an interactive quiz.
Jon, a Star Sport columnist, said: “Clare has won the hearts of the nation’s public with her coverage of the Olympics and the Paralympics.
“She has been exceptional, and I feel very lucky to secure her skills at a time when her stock really is high.
“Her work on rugby league and the detail she goes into is of a very high calibre – having her on board is a key part of the event for me.
“I love Question of Sport, have appeared on the show a few times, and it will be good to see who is crowned the most knowledgeable sports diners.”
Tables to view and take part in the interactive quiz are available at £360 or £36 per head. This does not include a meal. VIP tables (including a meal) are available.
