George Wright brewery gets support from Michelin star chef
4:00pm Sunday 16th September 2012 in News
A BREWERY is among businesses championed by a Michelin star chef, who is fronting a campaign to promote local food and drink.
Aiden Byrne from Liverpool has launched the Food Tourism Connect project.
Its aim is to raise the profile of rurally-produced food across Merseyside and to drive demand by promoting it direct to consumers, buyers and wholesalers.
A number of producers have already signed up for the project, including the George Wright Brewery in Rainford.
Mr Byrne said: “This region has a great deal to celebrate when it comes to food production.
“The food we produce is of the highest quality, and it is about time we started creating a strong brand in the way other food producing regions have.”
As the Star reported last month George Wrights has come up with a special ale to mark the Solar King Pride of St Helens Awards.
