Rheumatologist to deliver talk

A CONSULTANT rheumatologist at St Helens Hospital will be giving a talk on behalf of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.

Dr Rikki Abernethy will be discussing ‘Biologic treatments and the relevant NICE guidelines’ tonight, September 13, from 6.30pm to 8pm in the Assembly Hall of St Helens Town Hall.

The St Helens branch of NRAS was the brainchild of St Helens Hospital’s rheumatology department.

Anne Yates, an arthritis sufferer, helped to develop the group.

Mrs Yates told the Star: “There are thousands of people in St Helens who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and we provide this service so they don’t have to feel alone.

"It’s an educational, social meeting support group and we aim to encourage self-management.”
