Pride of St Helens shortlist to be revealed

A SHORTLIST of nominees for the Solar King Pride of St Helens Awards will be revealed in next week’s Star.
Nearly 200 nominations for the inaugural event, organised by the Steve Prescott Foundation and supported by media partners, the St Helens Star, were received.
A judging panel spent three and a half hours deliberating over the contenders for the 11 categories this week.
Three nominees will be unveiled per category.
Steve Prescott said: “We received some truly exceptional entries and the shortlisting process was subject to intense debate – and proved a huge challenge.
“We would like to thank everyone who submitted nominations and bought into the concept of these awards.
“In some cases we were spoilt for choice and many of those who have missed out on being shortlisted are people and organisations that we really should be proud of.”
The judging panel was made up of representatives from the Steve Prescott Foundation, the Star, Saints rugby league club, Solar King and St Helens Council.
The awards night takes place at Saints’ Langtree Park on Friday, October 12.
