A GYM is inviting Star readers to sign up for a 50-day challenge which staff hope will change “habits for a lifetime”.

Central Fitness on North Road is setting people the target of completing five kilometres for 50 consecutive days, and hopes the buzz surrounding London 2012 will encourage plenty of recruits to sign up.

The distance can be completed by running, jogging walking or cycling – in the gym’s fitness machines or outdoors.

Senior fitness instructor Danny McKeon said: “It is a national campaign and a great way of encouraging people to change their lifestyles and getting more active.”

Non-members can do the challenge at the gym, providing they pay the £5 fee to take part and sign up for the Central Fitness team.

Registration fees will go directly to Sport Relief, but those who want to continue raising funds for charity can do so for any good cause they want to benefit.

The journey starts on Sunday, and runs until October 28.

Individuals or teams can register by visiting 5x50.co.uk.
