Online campaign to get St Helens to Bolton bus back on the road

AN online petition has been set up demanding the popular 620 bus route from St Helens to Bolton gets back fully on the road.

The service, which was cut four years ago, ran from St Helens to Bolton. Services are now limited and terminate in Hindley Green, Wigan.

Passengers’ feathers were first ruffled in 2005 when route operator Blue Bus was bought by the North West subsidiary of Arriva buses.

Arriva identified at this time that the 620 service suffered from low passenger numbers which later resulted in the withdrawal of part of the 620 route.

An earlier move to reach a compromise saw the route partially reinstated.

Now campaigner Terence Price has created the e-petition to have the route extended once again, with a number of St Helens residents already voicing support.

One comment reads: “As a former regular user, I would like to see this service reintroduced for the benefit of people who need this service. This service was popular, but was allowed to be run into the ground.”

A spokesman for Arriva said: “There are no current plans to extend the 620 service through to Bolton. However we always welcome comments and feedback from our customers, and continue to review our services on a regular basis.”

not one to moan!!!! but how many people actually travel on a daily basis to and from bolton from st helens? and a bus route is not a wright is it not up to the operators if they can supply one at a profit( yes a business runs on profit) if it just to go to the market once a week then sorry it is not the companys job to supply for that, what reasons do you have to go more than once a week?,can we have a bus that runs on the hour every hour from TATTON to st helens and only cost me £1 each trip,it would save me a fortune.
