Rising to the Princely challenge
12:00am Sunday 2nd September 2012 in News
A FORMER RAF serviceman is to tackle a series of gruelling challenges to raise money for the Prince’s Trust.
Anthony Parr, 28, from Haresfinch, who was stationed in Northern Ireland and Afghanistan, left the air force in 2006 and seemingly had nowhere to go.
It was then when a friend recommended the work of the Prince’s Trust that Anthony’s life turned on its head.
Anthony got a photography portfolio together with a view to starting up a business.
His work was put before a Dragon’s Den-like panel to determine whether the project was worth funding.
After wowing the Prince’s Trust executives, Anthony was granted a loan and mentoring to get his photography business off the ground.
The commercial work Anthony produced impressed the Prince’s Trust so much that they enlisted him to take on their PR work as an official photographer.
Now, the Haresfinch snapper is undertaking three physically challenging tasks to try and give something back to the organisation that has given him so much.
On September 2, Anthony will tackle the Blackpool half marathon followed by the full Liverpool Marathon in October.
The most demanding of events comes on November 17, when Anthony takes on the Tough Mudder challenge in Cheshire.
Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by Special Forces to test strength, stamina, determination, and camaraderie and have already challenged half a million inspiring participants worldwide.
