Johnny Vegas set to score comedy winner for Saints' Jon Wilkin

Johnny Vegas Johnny Vegas

IT is rare he turns back to his stand up roots these days, but Johnny Vegas will do just that when he holds court at a comedy night in his hometown next week.

Vegas, one of Thatto Heath’s most famous exports, will be master of ceremonies at St Helens Theatre Royal for a night of laughs in support of the testimonial year of Saints’ Jon Wilkin.

It keeps up Johnny’s tradition of supporting the town’s rugby stars, with previous shows having backed the likes of Sean Long and Paul Sculthorpe.

With his career very much focused on radio and television production these days, comedy fans will have the chance to witness the stage presence that got him his breakthrough more than a decade ago.

But Johnny Vegas and Friends also includes some outstanding emerging stand up talent.

On the bill is Pete Emmett, a regular entertainer at Langtree Park and big favourite of Wilkin’s, and Celia Paquola, who has impressed Vegas.

Completing the line up is Luke Montague, star of C4's 'The Undateables’, and Patrick Monohan, winner of ITV1's 'Show Me The Funny’.

Tickets for the show on Sunday, September 9 are priced £15. Available by Box Office - 01744 756000 or www.sthelenstheatreroyal.com.

as a stand up he is terrible as a comic actor he is brilliant, bring back IDEAL,how about wrighting a sit com based in the outskirts of ST HELENS about a simple minded person,it could be called AS THICK AS A YICK,we have plenty of actors and producers so why have we never had a home grown show, who knows it could put us on the map.
