Teenagers to face court on motor theft and money laundering charges

Police arrested the boys on Tuesday. Police arrested the boys on Tuesday.

TWO 17-year-old boys from St Helens will appear in court this morning after being charged in connection with vehicle theft, handling stolen goods and money laundering.

The pair were arrested in Newton-le-Willows on Tuesday after a police swoop.

At about 2pm officers attended a property before arresting the teenagers, who cannot be named because they are aged under 18, on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

During the police operation, a vehicle was recovered that was previously reported stolen in Cheshire.

Several other vehicles were also found, along with a number of catalytic convertors, and officers are in the process of identifying these items and trying to establish if it is stolen property.

The arrests follow a warning issued last week by Merseyside Police urging drivers to secure their vehicles following a spate of van thefts in St Helens this summer.

The boys are due to appear at St Helens Magistrates’ Court.
