Raising funds for Nicola

Nicola Kinley
A DOTING grandmother, whose daughter is battling a rare form of brain tumour, has issued an open invitation for a special fundraising event to raise money for specialised treatment.
Nicola Kinley was diagnosed with a brain stem glioma in May 2011. However the 43-year-old mum of two has received all the treatment available to her in this country and will need to travel to the US for further medical help.
Her family and friends now face the task of raising £200,000 to get Nicola, who is from Warrington, onto the treatment programme in Houston, Texas.
Nicola’s mum Helen Kinley, who is a long standing member of St Helens Choral Society, said the Barn Dance and Irish Night will take place on Saturday, September 8 at Birchley St Mary’s Club on Trent Road in Billinge.
Helen stressed the importance of raising the cash: “It has massively affected all of her family and friends who love her dearly and want so much to be able to help Nicola in whatever way possible.
“The Burzyniski Clinic (in Houston), has been working with cancer patients for many years and has a great record of treating people with ‘terminal’ cancers, especially cancers of the brain.
“This pioneering treatment is Nic’s only hope of beating this terrible disease and allow her to see her children grow up.”
Tickets cost £8 and all proceeds will go towards Nic’s Road to Recovery Fund. They are available from Hazel on 07837591586.
Organisers say due to unforseen circumstances the date has been changed from Friday, September 7 to Saturday, September 8.
