Man, 84, hurt in crash

AN elderly man was taken to hospital with suspected head and spinal injuries following a car crash.

The 84-year-old had to be rescued by emergency crews following the two car collision that happened on Manchester Road, Prescot at about 11.50am Friday (August 24).

Firefighters had to remove a car door to free the elderly victim.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service statement read: “Firefighters helped paramedics to remove the 84-year-old man from the car on a long board.

“He was taken to Whiston Hospital. It is understood he was conscious and breathing but had head and spine injuries.”

Two men, aged 27 and 28, were out of the other vehicle when firefighters arrived. They were assessed by paramedics at the scene.
