Last leg of trek for ‘head girl’ Anne

THROUGH wind and rain she has led a troupe of school uniformed supporters as they make their annual trek to raise money for charity.

But this year sees the final St Trinian’s walk from Wigan to St Helens with ‘head girl’ Anne Ferguson after 15 years of fundraising for children with leukaemia.

In that time, Anne, who works as a carer, has raised more than £100,000. Each September marked the walk, when a bunch of goldenhearts of people dressed as St Trinians schoolgirls, made their way along the streets, collection buckets in hand.

Last year, they raised an impressive £5,479.

Anne, from Parr said: “I want to make the last one bigger and better than ever. The weather will be lovely in September, so I want people to sign up and take part.

“I’m sorry it’s going to be my last year, but it’s the right time. I want to thank those who have helped me over the years including Ken Hatton and Dave Ogden, who provided the coaches, Crystal Print who have done all of my posters, free of charge.

Also The Running Horses, who make the buffet for the walkers and Elite Telecom. “Ultimately I want to thank all the walkers who have turned out. I can’t thank them enough.

”If you want to take part in the final St Trinian’s walk and send Anne out on a high, give her a call on 01744 606299."
