EARLIER than usual congestion is being reported on motorways in Greater Manchester ahead of tonight’s Olympic GB football fixture against Senegal at Old Trafford.
For any fans heading for the famous stadium, traffic is building around Eccles Interchange and south along the M60 anti-clockwise and clockwise on routes to Trafford Centre and Salford City Stadium Park and Ride sites. Drivers heading to Park and Ride are urged to heed electronic motorway signs directing them to their nearest Park and Ride site.
The Highways Agency provides live traffic information via its website www.highways.gov.uk/traffic , local and national radio travel bulletins, electronic road signs and mobile platforms, such as the iPhone. Local Twitter services are also available at @HAtraffic_nwest and @HAtraffic_pen9 for Transpennine routes.
