  • "As a regular customer of this store (I have at least one birthday a year as does my wife) this is bad news.
It is also bad news as the shop will probably stay vacant for many moons.
Then as frankly says when it opens it will probably be a pawnbroker or £1 shops...
MInd you the way it's going in town if it isn't one of the above, it'll end up as a Chinese buffet and I love noodles."

Another blow for St Helens town centre high street as Birthdays card shop closes

A CARD shop has closed in St Helens town centre after becoming the latest victim of the recession.

The Birthdays store on Church Street was part of the Clintons Cards group that went into administration earlier this year.

In June 397 stores Clintons stores, including the St Helens branch at Church Square was saved following a rescue deal by Lakeshore Lending Limited.

However, no buyer could be found for the Birthdays store, which was a subsidiary of Clintons, and it has now ceased trading.
