Arsonists set fire to industrial bins near Scorecross St Helens

FIREFIGHTERS were called out after yobs set fire to three industrial wheelie bins in a brick building.

Crews were called out to Delph Hollow Way, near Scorecross just after 8pm on Tuesday, July 17.

Crew Manager Mike Foster, who attended the call out with Red Watch at Parr Stocks Fire Station said: “The bins were inside a brick bin shed.

“We pulled the bins out, which contained rubbish from domestic properties. The shed was unaffected by the fire.

“The fire was a suspect deliberate ignition. Fires set deliberately can pose a risk to lives and property. We investigate every fire we attend and provide information to the police.”

The fire service received four calls in the space of two minutes who put out the blaze in around ten minutes.

It melted the bin lids and caused some damage to the metal exterior.
