FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of a 17-year-old girl after she got her knee trapped in railings.

They were called on Tuesday (June 19) to Shaw Lane in Prescot and had to use hydraulic spreaders to bend the railings and free her leg.

Watch Manager Ian Wooldridge from Whiston Fire Station said: “The girl had been playing on the pavement with her friends near railings that protects pedestrians from traffic.

“One of her friends pushed her knee and it became stuck. We freed her and I checked for injuries.

“We advise people not to play near railings.”
