Are these mysterious UFOs extraterrestrials in the Rainford night sky?

CAN anyone solve the riddle behind these unearthly blue lights in a spectacular aerial display?

It was filmed by Gordon Carter in Rainford in the early hours of Monday, February 6. He explained: “At just gone 1am I went into my back garden to put a sack of rubbish into the bin when I noticed two strange and baffling lights in the night sky.

"One was square and never moved apart from blinking on and off and the other one was circular and both were bright blue.

“They looked to be several hundred feet high and almost directly above me, but at a slight angle. The circular light was dancing and moving around and at times it looked like it was changing into a tube, though this could have been the speed and movement of the thing.

“After watching the lights for a short time I recorded what I saw on mobile phone. I zoomed in and tried my best to film the lights as best as I could, although this was difficult at times as the circular light was darting around all over the place and it was a bitter night so there is some camera shake.

“After around two minutes the lights were gone and didn’t return as I kept an eye on the sky for a while with my camera ready.

“This was a pretty spectacular event; very exciting and mind boggling and bizarre to say the least. I am sure what I witnessed was no aircraft, plus there was no sound whatsoever. Also on viewing the footage you can see several different coloured smaller lights, which I didn’t see at the time.

I can only report what I saw and filmed and I would be grateful if someone could look at the footage and maybe do some analysis to see what they can discover.”

Quite frankly, all the video shows is some blue blobs dancing about in front of a black background. There are no distinguishing features to indicate the footage was taken outdoors (branches from trees, light pollution, clouds, stars etc.) and the footage is grainy. For all anyone knows, it could be someone messing around in a dark room with some blue glowsticks. If it genuinely was taken outside, maybe a phenomenon such as the Northern Lights could be the cause, although they would have to be very far south and the sky very clear on that night. Why not ask the Merseyside Astronomical Society about it?

I have no reason to doubt this guy. I'm sure he would realise if he were outside or not.
If it is genuine it definitely merits further investigation.

Any unusual activity needs to be assessed based on the evidence at hand and, quite frankly, this video could show anything. We only have the guy's word for it that these were lights in the sky. Nothing in the video actually shows that. He may be telling the truth, and if so, his story should be corroborated using reports from local astronomers, weather reports etc. If these things were really in the sky, he can't have been the only one to see them. It also needs to be remembered, though, that people have hoaxed sightings in the past. The movement of the left-hand light in particular makes me suspicious - it looks very much like a child waving a sparkler. Maybe it is and maybe it isn't - but the only way to tell is to find an independent source who can back up the story.

Agreed. I hope we get a follow up on this.

The colour and movement looks suspiciously like somebody fooling around with a high-powered hand laser on the cloud base.

I had one of those games. Did you manage to "zap" the square with your worm and what was your highest score?
No truth in the rumour that they were Aliens from Billinge probing for an Incinerator site.

how to......1, go into a pitch black room, with no sign of the outside world....2 get a friend to wave about those coloured lazer beams that ANY kid can purchase...3 film it on mobile or camera...4 Send to you tube..5 report to local paper and hope for 5 minutes of fame.....6 have good chuckle when some think its all true...7 job done.

RAINFORD ABDUCTION
I was once abducted by aliens near Rainford. I went out for a few drinks at the Collier's Arms, and walked home across the fields. Suddenly I saw some blue lights in the sky and became dizzy and disorientated. When I came round I was in a bright white room with no doors or windows and just one singlular bright light in a corner.

Turned out I had fallen asleep with my head in the fridge.
