A COMPANY has been fined £5,000 after a warehouse forklift truck driver suffered serious hand injuries.
Rhys Davies and Sons Ltd admitting a breach of health and safety laws at its premises at the Old Boston Trading Estate, Haydock.
The prosecution followed an investigation into an accident at the storage and distribution company during December 2009, when the driver’s forklift truck slid into a stationary, curtain-sided wagon.
His hand became stuck between the truck and the wagon.
The Cardiff-based company pleaded guilty to a charge of not having provided adequate training, information and instruction to the site supervisor in order to ensure, so far as was reasonably practicable, the health and safety of their employees.
In addition to the fine the company was ordered to pay £3,169 in costs.
