CHURCH Square was flooded by top street artists as part of celebrations to mark the On the Waterfront event at Liverpool's Pier Head.
Visitors to the square at the heart of St Helens town centre included Mayor Tom Hargreaves, who got to launch some of the fantastic optical illusions created by the award-winning Planet Street Painting.
The stunning artwork - featuring a sea full of fish, a whale and submarine - was part of a project led by the council and arts outfit Urban Canvas.
People were given the chance to try their hand at pavement art through a series of free interactive workshops, as well as watch the stunning 3D centrepiece emerge from being a simple chalk drawing.
Acts such as the Merseysippi Jazz Band kept the nautical atmosphere buoyant on Saturday at the artwork's unveiling.
Balloon artists and street entertainers helped make it a day to remember.
