BRAVE Connor Marsden was the guest of honour at a junior football tournament which raised £2,346 for charity.

The 13-year-old from Blackbrook suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a painful condition which can cause the skin to blister at the slightest knock.

The plight of Connor and other sufferers touched the heart of Peter Ainscough, managing director at Fives Football Centre in St Helens, who decided to help.

With the help of Everton FC, he organised a charity tournament for local children’s teams to raise money for Debra, a charity which helps people with EB.

With nine pitches on the Ravenhead Road site, there were almost 70 children’s teams playing, from under sevens to under 12s.

The day raised £1,596, with Seneley and Garswood Juniors FC collecting an additional £750.

Liverpool fan Connor was invited along, and was presented by the team at Fives Football with a signed Steven Gerrard England shirt.
