RAINHILL Parish Council are adding a plaque to the village’s War Memorial.
It’s to remember Acting Chief Petty Officer Simon Roger Owen who died while serving on HMS Chatham in The Gulf in 2004.
There is a service of rededication at the War Memorial in Warrington Road, Rainhill this Saturday, Aug 21 at 1pm.
This will include standard bearers, representatives from the Royal Navy and a small parade.
Some of Mr Owen's family live in Rainhill and others are travelling up from the South for the service.
