A TEENAGER has pleaded not guilty to murdering 15-year-old schoolboy John Marsh.
Matthew Briers, of Hempstead Close, Sutton Heath, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday via video link from Hindley Young Offenders Institute.
He is accused of murdering John Marsh, from Gladstone Street, St Helens on Saturday, November 21.
Junior rugby league player John suffered fatal stab wounds nearby his grandmother’s home in Hempstead Close.
Briers was 17 when he was first charged with the offence last year.
Reporting restrictions initially prevented the Star from identifying him because he was a youth, however, these have been lifted after he turned 18 in February while in custody.
A trial is set to take place in May.
