A FLORIST is in a critical condition following a struggle outside his shop.
The 67-year-old is believed to have suffered a heart attack following the altercation outside the Flower Bowl, Wargrave Road, Earlestown on Tuesday.
It appears the incident developed after a woman carrying a spade turned up outside the shop. Detectives are investigating whether he banged his head as he collapsed outside the florists, which is situated on a row of terraced houses, shortly before 2.30pm.
Police are investigating whether the incident centres on a family dispute.
The condition of the father was described as “critical but stable”.
A 32-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident.
However, she was deemed too unwell to be interviewed and was taken to hospital.
It is expected to be several weeks before police can question her.
The scene was subject to a forensic search and police made house-to-house enquiries.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 0151 777 1590 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
