A MINI FOREST is springing up in Haydock!
Around 150 trees in all are to be planted after St Helens Council teamed up with the Mersey Forest and landscape architects, TEP.
The environmental improvements will see hedge and tree planting along Lodge Lane between Haydock Island and Haydock Park Racecourse and Penny Lane between the East Lancashire Road bridge through the Old Boston Trading Estate to the junction with Lodge Lane under the M6.
Work starts this month.
Cllr Carole Kavanagh, the council’s executive member for environmental protection, said: “This area will be greatly enhanced by additional tree and hedge planting, providing an impressive gateway into St Helens for townsfolk and visitors alike.”
