A BUS driver who collapsed at the wheel has thanked the two good Samaritans who came to his aid.
John Anders, who has been on the buses for more than 20 years, was driving the 320 from Wigan to St Helens along Vista Road, Newton when he felt a searing pain.
The 44-year-old from Sutton Manor started to feel dizzy and suspecting something was wrong, quickly pulled over the bus that was full of passengers.
He passed out seconds later.
A married father-of-one, John explained: “It was only later that I found out it was kidney stones.
"I regained consciousness, but the pain was horrendous. All I remember was someone pushing me as I slumped in the seat.
“I want to thank the two blokes who were with me until the ambulance arrived.
"I don’t know their names, but it goes to show that there are some people out there who are nice.”
John spent a week in hospital and is now waiting to have the stones removed.
