Come and help celebrate the Citadel's 21st

A CULTURAL crew are throwing out an invitation to Star readers to join in their big birthday bash next month.

The special anniversary ‘party’ is being put on by the team at The Citadel who will be blowing out 21 candles on their celebration cake.

And what an impressive first 21 years the Citadel crew have notched up.

In that time, the centre has become vitally important for the cultural life of the borough, becoming a breeding ground for arts and new talent in St Helens.

The auditorium has played host to many great and influential artists, including Johnny Vegas, The Verve, The Bluetones, The Inspiral Carpets, The Blues Band, Fairport Convention and the Levellers to name just a few!

To mark this special occasion everyone is invited to the Citadel’s 21st birthday open day on Saturday, November 14, from 2 to 4pm.

This free showcase event includes performances, workshops and activities in drama, music, art and creative writing.

Join in the fun at 3pm for birthday speeches, cutting the cake and a champagne toast, meet the team and take a look around.

As a registered charity, the Citadel relies on the support of local people and organisations, which the Citadel hopes will continue for the next 21 years.

By donating just £5 a year as a Citadel Cherub, you can make a real difference to the long term future of the venue and help staff to run a range of arts activities such as ‘Hands On @ the Citadel’, deliver workshops in the local community for all ages and abilities and carry on a tradition of attracting innovative and influential artists to St.Helens.

As a Citadel Cherub, you’ll receive the Citadel brochure and special promotions so you really can see the difference your contribution is making.
