YOUR planet needs you... was the message at a special event held in Church Square to mark World Environment Day.

The day, organised by St Helens Council, highlighted resources and initiatives that promote sustainable low carbon economies and life-styles, such as energy efficiency, alternative energy sources, waste minimisation, recycling and composting, eco-friendly consumption, sustainable travel, responsible dog ownership and Fairtrade.

There were information stalls with interactive activities, quizzes and games.
