ONE of Rugby League’s top referees Steve Ganson is reported to be planning to appeal against his arrest in St Helens town centre last weekend.
It is believed that the 39-year-old was arrested near a taxi rank in the early hours of Sunday morning (July 5) outside a taxi rank on Westfield Street.
Merseyside Police confirmed that a 39-year-old was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and was issued with a fixed penalty notice.
Mr Gansons solicitors have issued a statement in which they state he was not formally charged and he will contest the penalty.
