Latest bout of heavy rain hits St Helens

TOWNSFOLK have been caught in another deluge as heavy rain caused problems for commuters this morning.

Standish Street, Birchley Street and parts of Church Street were among the usual locations affected by torrential rain.

However a council spokesperson explained that the initial water pressure can cause temporary flooding until it drains away but added that no facilities have been forced to close.

The latest band of rain follows monsoon like downpours, which brough flash flooding to parts of St Helens last month.
