Supersnackers

TODDLERS enjoyed some tasty treats during a fun Snack Right event...but it was delicious fruits rather than sweets or biscuits that were on the menu for youngsters.

A series of events were kicked off at Fourways Children’s Centre in Clock Face where children were encouraged to try fresh fruit and vegetables as an alternative snack.

It was all part of the Snack Right project, which is sending a simple message to parents to each day replace at least one unhealthy treat in their child’s diet with a healthy one.

Diana Forrest, director of public health for the Knowsley who leads the project, said: “If we can continue to encourage parents to give children fresh fruit and vegetables as snacks, instead of biscuits and sweets, there will be improvement in their long-term health and development.”

Every child who attends the event will be given a free sticker book to record their healthy snacking over the next month and those who complete the challenge will be entered into a prize draw.
