THOMAS Lee, a pupil at Willow Tree Primary School in Sutton Leach was delighted to be chosen for the St Helens team in the Merseyside Schools' Primary Panathlon Challenge held at the Greenbank Sports Academy, Liverpool.
Children with a wide range of needs enjoyed a variety of sporting activities and six-year-old Thomas competed in newage curling, slalom, beanbag and his favourite sport, Rampball, which is similar to bowling.
Liverpool won the challenge and St Helens earned runners-up place with Thomas chosen to hold the prize plate for the team photograph.
He said: "I made lots of new friends, it was fun and exciting and I would love to do it again."
Thomas took his medal into the school's weekly celebration assembly, where he told pupils about the part he had played in the team.
