POLITICAL parties have announced their list of candidates for the local elections that will see the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives fighting to retain control of St Helens Council.

The current make up of St Helens Council is Liberal Democrats 21, Labour 21 and Conservative six, leaving the local authority with a hung council.

However, a power sharing agreement between the Lib Dems and Conservatives means the two parties have held control of St Helens Council for the past two years.
