FORMER Saints full back Clive Griffiths is recovering from a suspected heart attack.

The 64-year-old former Cowley schoolteacher is in hospital undergoing tests and he is expected to make a full recovery.

A Welsh international in both codes, Griffiths is currently the Doncaster Knights director of rugby, a position he has held since 2012.

A club statement said: "Doncaster RFC (Doncaster Knights) can now confirm that director of rugby Clive Griffiths suffered a suspected heart attack whilst out jogging on Friday evening.

"Clive is currently undergoing tests in Doncaster Royal Infirmary, but is expected to make a full recovery.

"We are sure that everyone concerned with Doncaster Knights, Phoenix and the wider club will want to join us in sending our very best wishes to Clive."

Griffiths signed for Saints from Llanelli in 1979, and had five seasons at Knowsley Road before joining Salford.

He returned to Saints as an assistant coach before joining Warrington.

He has also seen him have spells at North Wales Crusaders, South Wales Dragons, Newport, London Welsh and Worcester.
