A 15-YEAR-OLD boy from Whiston has been arrested in connection with two stabbings which took place last week.

On Thursday, August 30 police received reports of a double stabbing in Kirkby shortly after 1pm.

A group of around 10 offenders had entered a building site on Moorfield, before stabbing a 48-year-old man and a 23-year old man.

The first man sustained an injury to his back and the second man sustained injuries to his leg. They were both taken to hospital to be assessed.

The offenders are described as teenagers, all wearing black and grey clothing and riding pedal bikes.

CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and locate those responsible.

A 15-year-old boy from Whiston was arrested on yesterday (Thursday, September 6) on suspicion of two Section 18 assaults.

He has since been released pending further investigation, police say.

Chief Inspector Andy Rankine said: “This is a shocking attack in broad daylight and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone fitting the description of the offenders making off from the scene to please get in touch.

“I want to make it absolutely clear that Merseyside Police will not tolerate knife crime and alongside our partners, we will continue to educate our young people, enforce and act on any information given to us, to make the streets safer.

"I appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to this incident to contact police so we can find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
