A GARSWOOD woman has been stabbed to death while on holiday in New York State.

Denise Webster, 61, died on Monday (August 13) after she was fatally stabbed at a house in Great Neck on Long Island.

According to US media reports, a 66-year-old woman has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the stabbing which took place on Monday last week.

Police in Nassau County, New York arrested Faye Doomchin, 66, in connection with the killing.

Ms Webster, who was visiting the United States, had lunch with a man and Doomchin, police say.

The three of them reportedly went back to the house in Great Neck for coffee and cake and to listen to the man play piano.

There Doomchin allegedly made statements that she did not like the woman from England and she had to “rid the house of evil.”

The suspect is alleged to have appeared from the kitchen with a knife, went right over to Ms Webster and stabbed her in the chest.

Ms Webster was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Detective Lieutenant Stephen Fitzpatrick, of Nassau County Police, told a press conference last week that the victim had been visiting the US for a holiday.
