In 1992 he became chaplain to the Lourdes Hospital, the Sisters of Notre Dame at Parbold, and to convents in Hexham and Newcastle, Brighton, and Bury St Edmunds.

In 1998 he became parish priest of Sacred Heart in Ainsdale, before retiring in 2001.

He died peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, at his home in Bognor Regis.
