POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two people were killed in a crash involving two vehicles on the East Lancs in Eccleston.
Emergency services attended the scene, near to the Catchdale Moss Lane junction, at around 2.40pm yesterday, Thursday.
The crash, near the Game Bird, involved a black Ford Fiesta and a silver VW Golf.
Police confirmed two people, who were in the Ford Fiesta, a man and a woman, have died.
The two people have not been formally identified but the next of kin have been informed and are being given support by specially trained officers.
Two men who were in in the VW Golf were taken to hospital with leg and facial injuries.
No arrests have been made following the crash.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "Enquiries remain ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any dash-cam footage which may have captured something which is vital to the investigation, to get in touch."
