FIREFIGHTERS were called after a fridge-freezer was ablaze in the back garden of a terraced property.

The fire also spread to the house with two fire engines called to the scene to tackle the flames.

Crews were alerted at around 7.15pm on Wednesday last week and attended the property on Whittle Street, Toll Bar.

On arrival crews discovered a fridge-freezer alight in the garden, and the flames had started to spread to the mid-terraced house. Firefighters used one hose reel jet to put out the blaze.

There were no injuries from the incident, a Merseyside Fire and Rescue spokeswoman confirmed.

Two fridge freezers were severely damaged by the fire, and an external boiler flu and a UPVC window were damaged by radiated heat.

There was light smoke damage to parts of the inside of the property.

Crews left the scene at around 7.45pm.
