A MUM who suffered the heartbreak of losing her daughter at age 33 had the “emotional” experience of being able to meet the woman whose life her child saved through organ donation.

Harlia Givens lost daughter Holly Moriarty, who died on December 18, 2016 after an operation for a broken leg at Blackburn Royal Hospital.

She left behind eight-month-old son Jensen, mum Harlia, sister Kendell and partner Kristian.

Holly’s organs were donated to help others including her lungs, kidney and liver.

A former Merton Bank Primary and Cowley schoolgirl, Holly had a career as a lawyer and also did work as a model in her spare time.

She did catwalk modelling and for make-up and small companies, described as a thrill seeker with a love for supercars and an ambitious driven woman who loved life.

And Harlia, 60, got to meet face-to-face a woman whose life was saved thanks to Holly’s lungs as she underwent a lung transplant the day after Holly’s passing.

Harlia, who lives in Cowley Hill, met with Sinead Anderson, now 41, from Mansfield, who travelled up to St Helens with husband Lee.

Harlia said: “She wrote me a letter to say thank you though no names were involved. The next letter I got had said Sinead and I saw she had been in the papers in Mansfield.

“I then saw she did a video for the NHS’ 70th birthday and I commented ‘Wishing you a long, happy and healthy life, from your donor’s mum.

“The next day I’d got a request on Facebook messenger from her husband. When she rang, she was quite nervous and they wanted to meet. She came up to St Helens and we met at Victoria Park and they came back to the house.”

Harlia added: “It was very emotional. Sinead has had a very tough life with cystic fibrosis.

“Her operation took 14 hours and she’d had five call-ups to have an operation but none were a match until Holly’s.

“They’d been trying to find me for a long time.

“It has helped me quite a lot because I feel like Holly’s still alive, even though I can’t see her.

“Her and Holly have so many similar traits, it was unbelievable. They’re both really strong women and both have gone through so much, and they also both had diabetes.

“It was a surreal experience but it has made it a lot easier.

“I said if Holly could have picked anyone to have her lungs, she’d have picked her.”
