A MOTORCYCLIST is in hospital with a serious head injury and broken arm following a crash on the Rainford bypass yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to Rainford Road just before 4.50pm after a collision between a car and a Yamaha motorbike close to Bickerstaffe.
Both vehicles were travelling northbound.
The 22-year-old motorcyclist, from Skelmersdale, was taken to Aintree Hospital via air ambulance where he is in a critical but stable condition.
The driver of the car is uninjured.
Road closures were in place for around four hours and the case has been passed onto Lancashire Police who are appealing for witnesses.
