NEXT Saturday the Newton Town Show, complete with monster trucks, helicopter rides and a classic car show, will once again take over Mesnes Park for a day of summer fun.

Newton and Earlestown Community Group have organised a host of events for the free show on Saturday, August 4, which attracts hundreds of visitors each year.

Highlights include monster truck displays from ‘Big Pete’ and ‘Grim Reaper’ – with event goers getting an opportunity to drive a mini one for themselves.

An arts and crafts competition; music from musicians; dance shows; helicopter tours of the town, food and craft stalls, fun fair amusements, a traditional tug o’ war and a classic car show will also be on offer.

Newton ward councillor and chairman of the Town Show Organising Committee, Seve Gomez-Aspron, said: “NECG have pulled it out of the bag once again and made the town show bigger and better for 2018.

“I’d like to give a big thanks to THINK! Estate Agents in Earlestown, Taylor Wimpey at Whittle Chase in Newton and all the other businesses who, without their support, this event would not be possible.

“The event is the biggest in the borough and entirely free, so please come down on the day and enjoy the sunshine in the park. All surplus money rolls into next year’s show and I want to thank the hard working team of volunteers that make this happen every year.”

It will take place from 11am to 5pm. To take part as a steward email secretary@necg.org.uk. To display your vintage vehicle, arrive at the park before 11am on the day.
