A UNIVERSITY student is looking for people who lived and worked in St Helens between the 1970s and 2000s for his work looking into the evolution of industrial towns.

Pierre Botcherby, a researcher in the history department at the University of Warwick, is looking for people who lived and worked in the town to share memories and experiences of the period as part of a project examining the evolution of industrial towns in the last 50 years.

He hopes to create a really rich social history of a period which had huge implications for industrial communities such as St Helens.

If you or a member of your family worked in a St Helens’ industrial sector, such as Pilkingtons, Beechams and coal mining within that period, and want to help Pierre then please email p.botcherby@warwick.ac.uk.
