A 10-YEAR-OLD “sassy” singer is thrilled after impressing the judges on ITV’s The Voice Kids with her rendition of Call me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.

Jennifer King from Newton-le-Willows appeared on the hit show on Tuesday, where she turned the chair of impressed judge Danny Jones from McFly.

After turning, he said: “You know what’s amazing about you, you already have this tone of your own, it’s original.

“Have you always wanted to sing?”

To which she answered “Yes, I’m like Beyonce, really sassy.”

The Federation of St Mary’s Catholic School pupil, who told her parents Beatriz and Jonathon that she wanted to take part in the show last year after watching it on TV – was elated she got through.

She said: “It was really fun to do it and I wasn’t scared because I knew all I could do is my best and sing my heart out and see what happened next.

“When I was on the stage it was like I was in a dream because when I watched the show last year I told my mum and dad that I had to be on it.

“I know how lucky I am to perform in front of the judges.”

Her proud mum Beatriz King, said: “Everyone was so so emotional when she got through, her talent is a god given gift, she works so hard.

“I cannot explain how emotional I was watching her perform on that stage, it was like a dream – and then Danny turned and we were like YES!

“It was a huge proud moment for us, her brother and our family.

“Jenny has always been a singer, even from being a young child – that’s why I put her in singing lessons at six-years-old – she has so much confidence.

“She is constantly telling me that when she is 16 she will be going on the X Factor, but after the show last year there was nothing stopping her.

“Everyone who knows her is just so so happy, The Voice Kids is just an amazing show for giving children the opportunity.

“The whole audition process was amazing and so professional, we were with hundreds of children and were made up when she got through to do the auditions in front of the judges.

“We are all very proud of Jenny, she’s very driven and knows what she wants to be in life.

“The next step for her is the battles, which is on tomorrow, so please watch it at 8pm everyone and see how she does.”

The show will air at 8pm on ITV, Thursday July 19.

The final will take place on Saturday.
