ST HELENS Council is to pursue court action after some travellers remained on the site of an Earlestown park after an eviction notice was issued.

On Friday, the local authority issued a Section 77 notice at the park as 16 caravans were parked on the land.

Some of the caravans have left the area over the weekend - but others have remained at the park on St John Street.

A St Helens Council spokesperson said: “The council can confirm that some of the group vacated the area over the weekend.

"A court hearing will take place as soon as possible this week for the immediate removal of the remaining travellers."
